Famous for its acoustics, you could visit the theatre at Epidaurus for example. Probably the best preserved Greek theatre it is still actively used for performances throughout the summer months. A coin dropped in the orchestra can be heard at the top of the auditorium without any artificial amplification.
Or visit Naphlio, and ascend the stairs up to the Palimedes fortress some 365m above the town. Up here you’ll find a prison cell where the defeated Greek general, Theodoros Kolokotronis, was kept locked up by the Turks who ruled Greece at the time.
Close by to Naphlio, you can travel to Mycenae and stop off at the Tomb of Agamemnon or Treasury of Atreus as it is also known, on your way to the citadel itself. Reputedly the home of Agamemnon, one of the participants in the Trojan wars, he had a tough life…After battling for 10 years over the honour of Helen, he was murdered on his return home by the man his wife had taken up with, Aegisthus.
